English 11 (1, 3, 7)

  1. Novel Reading and Writing Prompt
  2. Write a one page scene from the point of view of character who is not the main character in your novel.  This should be one typed, double spaced page, 12 or 14 font.  Save to your H:/ drive and print to HSLibrary.  Turn it in at the end of class.

Short Stories (2)

  1. One page response on “1408″ by Stephen King.  What elements of King’s writing add to the suspense that leads up to Mike Enslin catching his “lucky” shirt on fire?  Explain how imagery, word choice, dialogue (both inner and outer), setting, etc. are used by King to slowly build suspense.  This should be one typed, double spaced page, 12 or 14 font.  Save to your H:/ drive and print to HSLibrary.  Turn it in at the end of class.

Novels (5)

  1. Book presentations start Monday!  You cannot work on your presentation while other are giving theirs.  Use today to finish you novel or to put together your prezi.com, Powerpoint, Impress presentation.  If you are bringing in a bag with items (or not) — you should write a note card to help keep you on track with what you are going to say.

AP Literature (6)

  1. There is a Goodreads.com forum posting for people who wanted to have a booktalk today.  They can read and post there to make up for me being out today.
  2. I added a poll to Goodreads if you vote it replaces corrections for the last poetry test!
  3. Project work time will be limited to Thursday and Friday next week.
  4. Monday will also be a novel/booktalk day (but I cannot fit everyone in so use the Goodreads forum to get your points).

ENGLISH 11

    1. Bring your literature book! Finish the book work for “How They Chose These Words” (118).  This was the questions on page 120 AND 121.  Use www.etymonline.com — use this for the chart on 121.
    2. Worksheet on diction (word choice) and detail (double-sided).
    3. Both 1 and 2 should be turned in today.
    4. Tomorrow is Novel Reading Day — and it is Reading Across America….

 

SHORT STORIES

    1. Open “1408″ (around page 19)
    2. Notes on psychological analysis (if time)

 

NOVELS

    1. Reading/presentation work day

 

  • Sign up for Brown Bag Report.  Only 8 people signed up yesterday.  If you don’t sign up; I sign you up in what ever order I choose :)

  1. Presentation workday today and reading/booktalks tomorrow.
  2. We will also use Monday as a reading/booktalk day — it is the last day to get your novel reading points!  Read tomorrow and this weekend!
